Getting started

What does Ease need?

A Mac running macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple silicon or Intel. Ease installs from the Mac App Store and updates through it. There is no iPhone or iPad version.

How do I start?

Create a project from the Projects page, add a few tasks from the Tasks page, and write your first document from the sidebar. Add the people you work with on the Contacts page. Nothing to configure, no account to create.

Can I use Ease in French?

Yes. Settings has a language switch between English and French. The change applies immediately.

Subscription and free trial

How does the free trial work?

Starting the trial from the subscription screen unlocks every feature for one week. Apple then bills the plan you chose, monthly or yearly, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the week ends. The trial is offered once per Apple Account.

I subscribed, but Ease still shows the subscription screen

Click “Restore purchases” on that screen. Make sure the Mac is signed in to the App Store with the Apple Account that bought the subscription, and that it is online.

How do I cancel?

Open the App Store, click your name, then Account Settings and Manage under Subscriptions. Cancelling keeps access until the end of the period already paid. Apple handles billing and refunds.

Why does the subscription screen show no price?

Ease asks the App Store for the prices in your currency when it opens. If the Mac is offline or the App Store is unreachable, the price appears in the Apple purchase window instead.

iCloud sync

How do I sync two Macs?

Sign in to iCloud on both Macs with the same Apple Account, then turn on the iCloud switch in Ease’s Settings on each of them. The first sync sends what each Mac already has; after that, changes show up within seconds while both are open.

The iCloud card says “No account” or “Offline”

Open System Settings, click your name and check that iCloud is signed in and iCloud Drive is on. Then check the connection. The card updates by itself, and “Sync now” forces a new attempt.

Does turning sync off delete anything?

No. Turning sync off leaves your data on the Mac untouched and stops exchanges with iCloud. Turning it back on resumes where it left off.

What does Reset do when sync is on?

Reset in Settings erases everything in Ease on that Mac and also removes Ease’s data from your iCloud database, so the other Macs will empty too on their next sync. Export a backup first if you want to keep anything.

Backups and moving to a new Mac

How do I back up my data?

Settings, Backup your data. Ease writes a single file with your projects, tasks, documents, folders, contacts and interactions, where you choose. Keep it with your other backups.

How do I move Ease to a new Mac?

Either turn on iCloud sync on both Macs, or export a backup on the old one and restore it from Settings on the new one. Restoring replaces what the new Mac contains, after a confirmation.

Data and privacy

Where is my data?

In a local database inside the app data folder of your Mac, and in your private iCloud database if sync is on. No account, no server of ours, no analytics. The privacy policy has the details.

Does Ease read my Mac’s Contacts, Calendar or Mail?

No. Ease only knows what you type into it.

Still stuck?
