Privacy policy

Ease is a project-management application for individuals. This page explains what data is handled by the Ease app and the Ease website, and how we keep it confidential.

1. Who is responsible for data

Ease is developed and published by Daniel Brunner ("we", "us"). If you need to contact the developer, please use the contact option on the Ease Mac App Store listing.

2. Data you create in the app

Ease is designed to work without an online account. The information you create in the app (for example: projects, tasks, deadlines, documents you write inside the app, and the contacts and interactions you log) is stored locally on your device.

Contacts. Ease lets you keep a simple list of the people you work with (name, company, email address, phone number, notes) and a journal of your interactions with them. This information may concern third parties; you are responsible for what you record. It stays on your Mac, or in your own iCloud account if you enable iCloud sync, and is never sent to us.

iCloud sync (optional). If you turn on iCloud sync in the app's settings, your projects, tasks, documents, contacts and interactions are stored in the private CloudKit database of your Apple ID, so that your Macs share the same data. This database is operated by Apple, encrypted in transit and at rest, and accessible only to your Apple ID: the developer has no access to it. Turning the option off stops the synchronisation; deleting the app's data in the settings, or removing Ease from iCloud in System Settings, removes the copy held by iCloud. 3. What we collect

• We do not collect your projects, tasks, documents, contacts or interactions on our servers; we operate no server for the app.
• We do not require an account, email address, or phone number to use Ease.
• We do not run third-party analytics or ad tracking inside the app.

4. Local storage, backups, and file access

Ease stores app data locally on your device using a local data store. When you choose to export/import or select files (for example for backup/restore), Ease only accesses the files you explicitly pick via the system file dialogs. Ease does not automatically upload your files.

5. Subscriptions and in-app purchases

If you purchase Ease Premium, the transaction is processed by Apple through the Mac App Store. We receive only what is needed to unlock Premium features (for example purchase/ownership status and purchase time). We do not receive your full payment details.

6. Ease website

The Ease website is a static informational website. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising pixels, or analytics scripts on this website. Like most websites, the hosting provider may automatically process basic technical logs (for example IP address, user agent, date/time) for security and operational purposes.

7. Sharing and disclosure

• No sale of data: we do not sell your personal data.
• Apple services: subscriptions are handled by Apple under Apple’s own policies.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information only if required by applicable law.

8. Data retention and deletion

Because your content is stored locally, you can delete it at any time from within the app or by removing Ease and its local data. If you export a backup, you control where that file is stored and for how long it is kept.

9. Security

We rely on your operating system’s security features to protect local app data. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, your user account, and any exported backup files.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect product changes or legal requirements. The effective date at the top will be updated accordingly.
